Behind the scenes- it

For my behind the scenes review I chose one of my favorite movies of all time- the 2017 version of IT directed by Andrés Muschietti. The film involves a lot of complicated shots and different locations and watching the behind the scenes gave me a really new perspective on everything that went into it. One of the parts that I thought was the most interesting was how they had to alter the equipment that they were using depending on where they were. In the opening scene, they are on location in the pouring rain and all of the covering for the camera equipment and crew was intense. I’m used to having to cover up a camera, but on a set like this they were using so many different types of cameras that all required a different set up. In the scene, it was raining so hard that the street was flooding and they had to take  a lot of precautions with the rig that they were using because of how high tech that it is. Another thing that I thought was really interesting about the equipment that they were using was how high tech that they got in order to try and capture how big of a space that they were in. Usually, when I would think about that the only thing that I would think about would be the type of lens that I would need to use, but the setup that they had was amazing. There is a scene in the movie that is in a large cavernous room and the setup that they use was a large crane that they had setup on the set. That brings me to what I thought was the coolest part. A lot of the movie takes place in a system of caverns that they always thought they had gone out onto set for. What they actually did was build a massive system of tunnels out of wood that they altered on the inside with various settings. The most impressive one to me was when they made an interior wood tunnel look like a sewer with enough water to completely cover up one of the actors.
